After consultation with the library manager and discussion regarding the requirements and public needs the garden was aiming to achieve, we went about designing a user friendly and functional lay-out for the garden while working within the budget constraints.

We removed the lawn to reduce on going maintenance and made more space for corrugated iron raised garden beds along with some fruit trees.

To stick to the tight budget some of the construction was carried out by “Men’s Shed” and other local community groups.
