This front garden is very steep like alot in the area.
When designing this garden I had to'
1.Select plants that would grow in the poor soil.
2. Improve the drainage as water currently ran straight down the slope and took out any soil in its path.
3. Keep the budget low so we retained the two planter boxes and used them in the new look garden.
We mulched this garden with Pea Straw as its less likely to work its way down the steep slope. I planted lots of ground cover plants and soil binding grasses so once they get established the need for re-mulching will be reduced to small areas where large chunky mulch could be used. I used river stones in areas of high water run off to prevent / reduce erosion.
