Kate discovered her passion for landscape gardening following the purchase of her first home. Bitten by the green thumb, she quit her sales job and went back to school in 1998 to complete a Diploma in Horticulture and a Diploma in Landscape Design at Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE Greensborough Campus.

Moving to Perth in December 2000, she worked in various capacities in the garden and Nursery industry, including the City of Waneroo in the rolls of landscape approvals officer and park designer.

Kate has been self employed since September 2001, operating as a sole trader under the registered business name of Professional Landscape Services while in Perth and since moving back to Melbourne in December 2008 she has registered as a sole trader under the business name of Kate Ashton Landscape Designer.

Kate offers the services of Garden Design, Construction and Maintenance

garden design

The process starts with an on site garden design consulation. Kate brings folders full of photos and pictures of different garden styles and garden ideas. This makes communicating your ideas and likes and dislikes easy and enables both parties to be confident in the garden design concept that is created at this meeting.

Kate also offers the service of designing and drafting landscape plans for council approval.

Once this stage has been finalised Kate can prepare an itemised quote for the construction of your garden. She uses experienced, qualified tradespeople for the hard landcaping (concrete, paving, retaining walls, bricklaying etc.), managing the construction process and does the soft landscaping which covers sprinkler systems, soil improvement, garden lighting, water feature installation, plant supply, delivery, installation and mulching.

There is also the option of D.I.Y construction and Kate can assist in project management charged at an hourly rate and / or plant supply, delivery and lay-out which can be quoted.

Being a qualified horticultist you can trust Kate has the knowledge to look after your investment, from fertilizing, rose pruning, weeding, annual mulching, topping up compacted paths, oiling your deck, painting your fence, to garden clean ups. W e can do it all.
